چکیده
Background: The rate of co-occurrence Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) and axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) in adults is reported ranging from 0.5% to 7.5%. clinical implications this the course FMF still a research question. Objectives: To compare demographic features patients with FMF+axSpA. Methods: A total 9630 was detected according ICD-10 code (E85.0) Hacettepe University Hospital database. 241 these also had axSpA (M45). diagnosis confirmed by Tel-Hashomer criteria. AxSpA either presence sacroiliitis on sacroiliac radiography Modified New York Criteria (mNY) or active ASAS criteria magnetic resonance imaging. 136 were criterias as having As control group, 231 consequent without recorded “FMF Central Anatolia (FiCA) database” followed up at our center included analysis. Demographic those both groups compared. p<0.05 considered statistically significant, correction for multiple comparisons not performed. Results: FMF+axSpA group group. 114 (83.8%) radiographic mNY criteria; median cervical mSASSS 0 (available 49 patients, min-max, 0-36), lumber 4 121 33 (27%) syndesmophyte. Twenty-six (19.1%) radiologically documented inflammatory hip disease 12 (8.8%) underwent replacement. Female gender more prevalent (53.7% vs 32.5%, p<0.001). Age symptom onset earlier patients; however, durations longer study cohort (Table 1). Frequency signs symptoms comparable except pleuritis higher compared (p=0.003). Amyloidosis (6.6% vs. 1.7%, p=0.014). Results MEFV gene analysis available 273 patients. Although M694V mutation (either 1 allele 2 alleles) groups, homozygous (39.8% 28.9%, p=0.02). Conclusion: coexistence appears be associated increased prevalence amyloidosis. burden second may explain risk. Table 1. Comparison two groups. Genetic Analysis of Southwestern Iranian Patients with Familial Mediterranean Fever
Background: Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of self-limited fever and serosal tissues inflammation. Methods: To evaluate clinical symptoms and common genetic mutations in southwestern Iranian patients with FMF, 20 unrelated patients were enrolled in this study based on clinical criteria. A panel of 12 common ME...
متن کاملMagnetic resonance imaging features of Familial Mediterranean Fever associated spondyloarthritis
Methods Twenty-nine patients followed up in our clinic with FMF-SPA who fulfilled ASAS classification criteria for axial spondyloarthritis. To figure out only characteristics of FMF-SPA, we excluded those patients with psoriasis, Crohn disease/ulcerative colitis or positive HLA-B27 tests. Patient demographics, clinical features and MEFV mutation analyzes were recorded. All patients underwent sa...

Results The mean age was 27,5±16 (1-86) years. Our hospital mean follow-up period was 48,5±48 (1-352) months. 1343 patients (67,2%) had no comorbidities. 655 patients (32.8%) had comorbidities. Comorbidities were as follow: Appendectomy 30 (4,6%), cholecystectomy 20 (3,1%), acute rheumatic fever (2,4%), ankylosing spondylitis 155 (23,7%), juvenile idiopathic arthritis 31 (4,6%), rheumatoid arth...
متن کاملFAMILIAL MEDITERRANEAN FEVER: A STUDY OF 32 CASES
From April 1983 to September 1990, 32 patients with familial mediterranean fever (FMF) were studied. FMF is characterized by short, self-limited, febrile episodes that occur with inflammation of serosal surfaces. Major symptoms include fever and abdominal pain, presenting as acute surgical abdomen. These attacks are associated with considerable morbidity and in some patients lead to unnece...
متن کاملBone Mineral Density in Egyptian Children with Familial Mediterranean Fever
Background: Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) has episodic or subclinical inflammation that may lead to a decrease in bone mineral density (BMD). The objective of this study was to assess BMD in Egyptian children with FMF on genetic basis. Methods: A cross sectional study included 45 FMF patients and 25 control children of both sexes in the age range between 3-16 years old. The patients were re...
